Perserverance

2006

28.5 x 21 cm, about 1200 gemstones

It is a creation of my imagination however, a similar tree exists in reality. A degenerated pine tree struggles through wind, rain and dust hanging over 500 m on the vertical wall of the mountain. At the bottom of the mountain runs a river gorge. The pine tree is the epitome of strength and loneliness.
The background is painted with watercolour and has nothing to do with a view in any real mountains. The needles of the pine are made of bloodstone and peridot, and the branches of various types of tiger-eye.
