Vincent van Gogh is my
favourite artist. The prints of his self- portrait (painted by the artist in
Paris in 1887 – original may be seen in Amsterdam) and some other of his
paintings have been part of my home décor for many years. Eventually I had
to paint Vincent with gemstones. It was rather difficult to give him exactly
the same expression as he presented:
a little sad and a little angry. Eventually my Vincent looks younger,
healthier and more alert than he presented himself. The colours also differ
since I used rather blue than green colours for both, his jacket and the
background. The background was painted with acrylic before the gemstones
were attached.
